The Vietnam Traveling MemorialWall®, a 288- foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is coming Wilmington, NC on July 25 to July 29, 2019 and will be open 24 hours a day and FREE to the public. It will be resting at Mayfair Town Center 1055 International Drive, Wilmington NC 28403.
American Honor Guards of North Carolina and Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 885 are proud to be able to bring the healing Wall to Wilmington.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall® honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces during the Vietnam War and its walls bear the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. There were over 1600 North Carolinians. It allows Americans, not able to make the trip to Washington, DC a chance to see what the memorial is really like. It is also a reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by American men and women during the Vietnam War. We hope your visit to The Vietnam Traveling memorial wall will be healing, educational and profoundly moving. Please remember many visitors lost friends and family members during the war. They are visiting the Memorial to pay respect to those who served or lost their lives during the war. American Honor Guards of North Carolina and Vietnam Veterans of America are honored to be bringing the healing Wall to Wilmington NC.
Donations of all amounts are appreciated and can be made to American Honor Guards of North Carolina. American Honor Guards is a 501c3 non-profit organization. No member of American Honor Guards receives any compensation for their time. All donations will be used solely for active duty military or their families as well as any veteran and their families. Veterans, military, civilians and especially Vietnam Veterans will be needed to help with The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall while it is in Wilmington. There will be 4 shifts per day of 6 hours each from 0800 (8am) to 1400 (2pm) 1400 to 2000 (8pm), 2000 to 0200 (2am), 0200 to 0800 (8am). Volunteers are needed for security/visitor assistance, hospitality tent (volunteers), after hours locator tent. Please see the page "Memorial Wall Volunteers" for more information.
Arrival escort will be on Thursday July 25 and open to all motorcycles and automobiles. Anyone wishing to participate in the escort please visit American Honor Guards website at AmericanHonorGuardsNC.org and visit the page Memorial Wall Updates to find the Escort Coordinator for your area. The staging area will be at the BP Station 1128 Green Swamp Road South, Bolton, NC 28423. This is located at the intersections of Highway 211 & Highway 214. The staging time is 0800 (8am). All those wishing to participate should be on property by that time to get signed in. KSU (leaving time) is 0900 for the escort into Wilmington.
